The Hermitage and Russian museum are open!

We are happy to inform you that the Hermitage museum and Russian museum are again open for visitors since 15 July 2020. The Hermitage and the Russian Museum have reopened to visitors, while art lovers will have to comply with sanitary standards: sessions and special routes have been introduced for them, the use of protective masks is mandatory. On Wednesday, the Main Museum Complex of the State Hermitage and the General Staff building will resume receiving visitors. Other exhibition complexes will open approximately from 1 August. The Hermitage has developed several routes that provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the main museum exhibits and masterpieces of the collection, but allow you to make a different emphasis during the examination. Visits to the Main Museum Complex and the General Staff Building will be limited to two hours, in addition, movement through the exhibitions is strictly in one direction. In between sessions, the rooms will be sanitized and ventilated. Entry to the Hermitage will be carried out by electronic tickets. All visitors and museum staff must wear masks and gloves and maintain proper distance. The visit to the museum will be organized by session. They in both complexes will start at 12.00, 13.00, 14.00, 16.00, 17.00, 18.00 and 19.00.
The Mikhailovsky Palace and Benois Wing, which are part of the State Russian Museum, also opened on Wednesday. A system of sessions has been developed for visitors, allowing 10 people to be received every 20 minutes. After analyzing the attendance in the first days, as well as the attitude of art lovers to the established restrictions, the number of sessions is expected to increase. The use of protective masks is mandatory for both employees and visitors to the Russian Museum. Thermal imagers are also installed at the entrance for contactless temperature measurement. The routes for visitors who have to maintain a social distance of 1.5 meters are designed to avoid people crossing. Tickets to the Russian Museum can be purchased online only. The Summer Garden, which is also part of the State Russian Museum complex, was also opened on Wednesday. It will still be free to enter.
